Job Summary

The sky is no longer the limit as Nidec takes its technology off the ground and into the Aerospace market. As a motor test technician with the Nidec Aerospace team, you will have the opportunity to apply and develop your expertise to design electric propulsion systems for the battery-powered aircrafts that will enable the world to sustainably and efficiently get from point A to point B. Nidec is the world's leading electric motor manufacturer and a true pioneer in electrification across a wide array of industries since its foundation in 1973, ranging from appliance, energy infrastructure, to ground transportation. Nidec Aerospace is a newly created Joint Venture between Nidec and Embraer which intends to take a leading role in the Electrification of Aircrafts. Job Description

As a Motor Test Technician within the Nidec Aerospace business unit you will play a crucial role in supporting our engineering team in the technical design, evaluation, and testing phases of new product development of electronic motor controls. This technician will build, set up and support perform motor functional and performance and testing to support engineering validation and design qualification of electric motors. In addition, this individual will also support activities to maintain a safe and efficient operating environment in the Nidec integration labs.

Responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for disassembly of generators, motors, pumps, drivers, and all components connected.
  • Prepare test setups, conduct electrical, environmental, performance and agency tests and document results.
  • Carry out the assembly of screened cables, ensuring that appropriate shielding and insulation methods are applied according to industry standards.
  • Perform electro-mechanical assembly tasks, seamlessly integrating electrical and mechanical components.
  • Ensure all electrical lab work adhere to safety regulations and meet company quality standard working in high voltage lab range from (+5 - 1000VDC) and up to 600 VAC.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Associate degree in Electrical or Mechanical or Equivalent Two-year Course in field of engineering.
  • +3 years' experience working in power distribution labs or Aerospace testing labs, including hands-on skills in assembly, modification, repair, and testing of electric motors and drivers.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use lab equipment including multi-meters, oscilloscopes, power supplies / battery emulators, data loggers, spectrum analysers, environmental chambers and thermocouples etc. required
  • Experienced working in HV environment with adherence to health and safety standards. (OSHA 29 CFR 1910, NR 10, BS EN 50110-1)
  • Familiarity with harnesses/soldering standards such as IPC/WHMA-A-620, J-STD-001, IEC 62271, and/or UL 891.
  • Familiarity with CAD tools to interpret and follow engineer drawings for mechanical assemblies.
  • Ability to understand electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and related drawings required.
