Animal Care Technician

Responsibilities:

As an Animal Care Specialist, you will be responsible for the following tasks under regular supervision:

• Perform vivarium and animal care, including facility sanitation, cage/tunnel washing, and autoclave use.
• Maintain laboratory supplies inventory, oversee pest control, and monitor environmental conditions.
• Handle and husband rodents, including animal transfer, observation, and basic sample collection.
• Manage laboratory waste and assist with routine vivarium environmental monitoring.
• Execute assigned laboratory techniques accurately and adhere to safety protocols and workplace cleanliness standards.
• Learn and apply basic technical knowledge in pharmaceutical areas such as DMPK, ADME, and In Life studies.
• Fulfill other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

Experience / Education:

• High School diploma or Associate degree; knowledge of animal science, biology, or related fields preferred.
• 0-2 years of relevant experience in animal care or a related field.
• An Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician (ALAT) certification from the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS) is advantageous but not mandatory.
• Equivalent combinations of education and experience will also be considered.
