As the VP Finance at IH Mississippi Valley Credit Union, you will have a pivotal role in overseeing our team of Financial Analysts. Collaborating closely with our Treasury team and the SVP Finance, you will play a key part in managing the overall financial reporting, forecasting, and ensuring the financial health of our organization. Are you the VP Finance we're looking for?

To excel in the role of VP Finance at IH Mississippi Valley Credit Union, you must possess the following key skills and qualifications: strong staff management and development capabilities with prior supervisory experience; in-depth understanding of corporate treasury and finance, including laws and best practices; solid expertise in financial analysis, modeling, and forecasting, with hands-on experience in an analytical capacity; proficiency in various software models, particularly high proficiency in Excel formulas and functions; knowledge of SQL and/or Power BI would be advantageous. Your comprehensive skill set in these areas will be essential in driving the financial success and strategic growth of our credit union.

Knowledge and skills required for the position are:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or other relevant field
  • Minimum of 7 years progressive treasury experience in a financial institution
  • Ability to understand model outputs to present meaningful results to management
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including written and oral communication skills
  • Comfort dealing with ambiguity and the ability to work independently
  • Experience working with, and presenting to, senior executives

CURIOUS ABOUT A FEW KEY RESPONSIBILITIES?

  • Develop, mentor, and guide all direct reports. Develop cross training plans for all staff positions and maintain the latest in skills and processes assigned. Recognize and reinforce positive results and address performance shortfalls in a timely and professional manner.
  • Provide oversight and direction for updating monthly financial data management applications including ALLL/CECL models and publishing management analysis and narrative reports.
  • Provide oversight in preparing quarterly reports and submission files for the call report, 3rd party borrowing base and financial forecasts.
    • Assist in the formulation of internal controls, processes, procedures, and policies to comply with regulation and established best practices. Standardize and document procedures and review as needed, at least annually.
  • Track performance against various defined policies and benchmarks.
  • Assist with providing responses to various auditor and examiner inquiries.
  • Analyze financial data to uncover patterns and trends that can be used to assist management with making informed financial decisions; identify revenue enhancement, cost savings, and risk reduction opportunities.
  • Oversee the preparation of budget variance analysis and profitability analysis
  • Assist the credit union with implementing projects that enhance performance, increase efficiencies, and reduce costs where appropriate (e.g., system upgrades / enhancements, etc.)
  • Provide back up for other leaders in Finance.
