Accountabilities

Reporting to the Senior P&L Manager, the Senior Risk Analyst will be a significant contributor to the Risk Analytics function and be responsible for the following:

Identifying and Defining Market Risk

  • Develop methods to better model and calibrate natural gas transportation and storage assets as well as assess the impact of weather on retail contracts.
  • Help commercial team develop optimization targets based on the models and forward price outlook.
  • Assist in periodic review and validation of pricing and risk models.

Measuring and Assessing Market Risks

  • Aid in research, development and enhancement of market risk models and methodologies.
  • Work with Commercial and Product Control teams to ensure products and deals are properly reflected in ETRM system.
  • Validate system inputs including price curves and deal entry to ensure the proper calculation of Value at Risk (VaR), Mark-to-Market (MTM), and Profit and Loss results.

Providing Guidance or Information Required to Optimally Mitigate Risk

  • Apply stochastic and econometric techniques to support methodology development and validation.
  • Perform back-tests, stress tests, scenario analyses and sensitivity studies.

Monitoring and Reporting

  • Monitor and explain changes in VaR and MTM (both cash month and forward) daily.
  • Report and Present to Risk Management Committee, as needed.
  • Optimize use of ETRM (Endur)
  • Liaise with IT to improve reporting from Endur.
  • Monitor, manage, and report on FCM account.

Professional Experience and Qualifications

  • Requires a minimum of 5 years of professional business experience.
  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in finance, mathematics, statistics or a related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Advanced degree in finance or statistics preferred.
  • Experience with Endur, strongly preferred.
  • Experience building advanced Excel-based models to analyse data required.
  • Experience with Endur and Tableau, preferred.
  • Experience with coding and query writing a plus.
  • PRM (Professional Risk Manager), CFA (Certified Financial Analyst) or similar certification(s) preferred.
  • Ability to work within a team as One Team
