JOB EMPHASIS AND PURPOSE

As a Quality Technician - Prototype Development at Atkins & Pearce, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality of both ongoing production and new products through rigorous testing and evaluation. This role requires a keen eye for detail and a strong ability to problem-solve, as you will also be integral in developing and testing prototypes for innovative products. Also, supporting the Management and Functional Groups’ goals for customer satisfaction, cost reduction and product quality.

 

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

Testing & Evaluation

Ø  Quality Testing and Assurance: Conduct tests and inspections of products at various stages of the production process to identify and correct potential failures or defects. Work with suppliers to resolve material issues.

Ø  Prototype Development and Testing: Collaborate with the product development team to design and execute prototypes. Test and refine prototypes based on performance data and feedback to ensure they meet quality standards and functional requirements.

Ø  Documentation: Maintain accurate records of quality reports, statistical reviews, and relevant documentation.

Ø  Continuous Improvement: Recommend improvements to the production process based on findings from quality tests and prototype trials. Assist in implementing changes to enhance product quality and efficiency.

Ø  Team Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, including R&D, production, and engineering, to ensure product specifications are achieved.

 Documentation / System Management

Ø Assist in maintaining the Waste Report system, HUF database, COA system, etc.

Ø Work with Quality Manager to prepare reports and documentation per AS9100 / ISO 9001 / TS16949 – PPAPs, IMDS, etc.

Ø Support the Operation with data reports on product and process analysis.

 Data Analysis

Ø Analyze waste and production data for the functional teams to use for process improvement.

Ø Analyze customer return data and prepare reports for Management reviews.

Ø Analyze process data for new/modified processes.

Ø Analyze data from nonconforming product and make recommendations for process change.

 Plant or Production Support

Ø Assist Production areas in improvement of machine and production capabilities.

 QUALIFICATIONS 

Education / Experience

Ø  Associate degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality Assurance, or related field. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Ø  2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, particularly in quality control or product testing.

Ø  Experience in prototype development and testing is highly desirable.

Ø  Strong understanding of quality assurance standards and statistical analysis.

Ø  Proficient with QA software tools and Microsoft Office Suite.

Ø  Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Working Hours / Environment

Ø  Office hours are 40 hours per week – currently from 7:00am to 4:00pm (Monday – Friday).  May require additional hours periodically, including evenings and weekends, depending on business needs.

Ø  Work is typically performed in an indoor office setting & plant environment (Hearing protection may be required).

 Tools and Equipment

Ø  Company provided computer, copier, fax/scanner, phone, and other typical office equipment.

Ø  Test and measuring equipment such as tensile tester, calipers, micrometers, etc.

 Travel

Ø  Minimal – less than 5% of the time

 Physical and Mental Demands

Ø  Frequently required to sit at a desk/workstation for long periods of time.

Ø  Ability to work at a computer terminal for extended periods of time.

Ø  Digital dexterity and hand/eye coordination in operation of office equipment.

Ø  Light lifting and carrying of supplies, files, etc.

Ø  Ability to speak to and hear employees/clients via phone or in person.

Ø  Body motor skills sufficient to enable incumbent to move around the office environment.

Ø  Ability to analyze sourcing data, benefits, and other reports and make recommendations.

Ø  Additional Mental Requirements: compare, decide, direct, problem solve, analyze, instruct, and interpret.
