Job description

Prototype Shop Supervisor

Location: Sterling Heights, MI

Pay: $45-50/hour

Long term contract to hire

Responsibilities to Anticipate for this role

  • Operate as a technical advisor of 15-30 bargaining unit personnel to complete vehicle build and assembly work.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and direction for personnel to ensure customersโ€™ needs are met.
  • Set up job work areas for the shop work orders to optimize vehicle build and checkout activities.
  • Assist the Section Manager in assigning resources to meet schedules (space, tools, manpower etc).
  • Ensure personnel are trained/certified to perform operations prior to job assignment.
  • Provide input on quotations/bids for new work.
  • Create, maintain, and foster continuous improvement and lean strategies: reduce cycle times and floor inventories, reduce cost and improve employee participation and customer satisfaction.
  • Conduct/participate in daily status meetings and cross shift meetings as necessary.
  • Approve shop work orders and material requested from the crib.
  • Monitor shop work order status and initiate corrective actions as needed to stay on target.
  • Assist the Section Manager with approving daily timecards of Prototype Shop personnel.
  • Follow all Environmental Health and Safety Instructions, Standard Practices, and corporate policies and directives.

Qualifications Sought

  • 5-7 years of relevant experience.

  • Significant additional related experience may be considered in lieu of educational requirements.

  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, and 2nd shift as needed.

  • Working knowledge of MS Office Suite, project management skills, lean methodology, and continuous improvement skills.

  • Must meet Anthropometric Size Restrictions (ASR).
