Job Description

The Neil Jones Food Company is looking for a Transportation and Logistics Manager at our corporate headquarters in Vancouver, WA. The Neil Jones Food Company processes superior quality, fresh packed, vine-ripened California tomatoes and Pacific Northwest fruit. With headquarters in Vancouver, Washington, NJFC has been providing our nation’s discerning foodservice, retail, industrial and institutional customers the finest quality canned and pouched products for over 35 years. NJFC operates three production facilities: Northwest Packing in Vancouver, WA.; San Benito Foods, in Hollister, CA; and Toma-Tek in Firebaugh, CA.

Summary: Oversees, manages and coordinates the transportation and logistics operations of the Company. This is an exempt position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Negotiates and secures contracts with transportation providers; manages freight program pricing and carrier selection.
  • Manages USDA freight program, including bid preparation.
  • Manages freight damage prevention policies and protocols to reduce claims and damage loss.
  • Manages tracking of transportation and carrier claims.
  • Monitors transportation costs, service level agreements, and performance metrics to identify and resolve problems and achieve efficiencies.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain, transportation, business management or related field; or, any equivalent combination of training, experience and education that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of this position.
  • Thorough knowledge of the transportation industry, including trucking, rail, and intermodal.
  • 5 years’ related experience in transportation and logistics in a manufacturing environment; food manufacturing strongly preferred; 2 years’ supervisory experience required.
  • Demonstrated computer skills in standard Microsoft office software applications; intermediate to excellent Excel skills.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test, background screen and work extended schedule during the canning packing season (typically July to early November) requiring extra hours and weekend work.

Compensation:

The salary range is $96,071 - $120,089, based on experience and qualifications.
