Thrift Store Driver - Part-Time

Tuesday, Wednesday & Saturday 7 am to 3:30 pm

Position Overview

Provide vehicle transportation of in-home donated goods from AHS donors. These items will include large pieces of furniture and boxes of home goods. Drivers will also transport donated dog food from various sources. Continuous driving throughout Maricopa County picking up in-kind donations and transporting them to one of our three thrift stores for resale. Constant heavy lifting.

Essential Functions

• Pick up, transport and deliver donated items including large furniture to our Thrift Store locations and/or AHS Warehouse.
• Provide outstanding customer experience to our wonderful donors and take the utmost care with their donations.
• Practice "Excellent Experience Every Time" and be a positive representative of AHS.
• Lift large, bulky and heavy items on a daily basis.
• Must be able to lift 75 pounds unassisted to a height of 4 feet.
• Drive safely and maintain off-site vehicle and equipment.
• Handle equipment, donations and services properly and while adhering to all driving laws.
• Provide additional assistance to Shelter and Field Operations personnel as needed, including delivery of deposits to bank, delivery of mail, and delivery of supplies.
• All Thrift Driver positions are required to drive AHS vehicles and are designated as safety sensitive.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education / Certifications / Licenses:

• High school diploma OR GED
• Valid Arizona driver's license

Experience:

• Six months to one year prior work experience preferred.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Must be able to lift 75 pounds unassisted to a height of 4 feet.
• Must possess excellent customer service skills.
• Must have an acceptable driving record and ability to pass drug and background screening to be insured as an AHS driver.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

Language - Able to speak, read and write English and complete paperwork accurately and legibly; Spanish language helpful

Mathematical - Ability to perform basic mathematical skills.

Technical - Able to learn software programs as necessary.

Other:

Regular attendance and punctuality required. All Thrift Driver positions are required to drive AHS vehicles and are designated as safety sensitive; misdemeanor and felony charges and/ or convictions, inability to pass driving background, or failure to pass drug or background screening may disqualify candidates from the position.

Work Environment / Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to drive vehicles, stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds to a height of 4 feet. There will be exposure to dust, heat, cold and temperature changes; occasional wet floors, and animal noises, odors and dander. Typical work environment will be out of the office, driving a truck in a safe manner, working in the field.
