SUMMARY:

Assembly Manager at ESL is responsible for overseeing manufacturing and assembly operations for the different Product assembly areas/lines. The total area is responsible for final assembly and testing, and it has 4 supervisors with around 70 employees. The Assembly Manager was created to keep supporting the rapid growth in the organization and it will report to the VP of Operations. It is an important and strategic position as a big portion of ESL employees will report to him/her.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervises and coordinates the day-to-day activities related to assembly and testing of the different production areas of assembly for final products.
  • Lead the constant implementation of Lean manufacturing principles.
  • Studies the costs, materials, and efficiencies of the different areas
  • Ensure successful full use of the new company ERP system for all production and assembly employees.
  • Proper planning and use of resources to improve labor cost as percentage of sales.
  • Define capabilities needed in the supervisors in each area and make necessary changes.
  • Define and constantly evaluate reporting structure to support aggressive annual growth.
  • Prepares, executes, and monitors budgets and reports monthly any deviations and reasons with actions plans to correct this. Our Controller will be your key partner in this area.
  • Recommends new production processes and required equipment purchases or repairs.
  • Working in a team with other areas of the company develop and monitor production forecasts and adjust whatever is necessary to deliver on promises.

  • Identifies process abnormalities or inefficiencies then addresses those problems by determining and implementing appropriate changes.
  • Ensure Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are not only tracked but review daily and weekly and actions are taken to address deviation. This is one of the key requirements of the position, we manage the business with data, and we expect this position to master this area metrics.
  • Ensures employee compliance with safety, environmental, and operational standards, and regulations.
  • Working hand in hand with HR Manager, supports employee engagement initiatives to ensure alignment of company core values.
  • Review customer requirements and specifications to identify improvement opportunities and implement solutions to increase customer satisfaction.
  • Develop and coach direct employees to their full potential by providing challenging opportunities to support career growth.
  • Perform weekly one on one meetings with all your reports with the agenda used by ESL.
  • Ensure team members perform in accordance with ESL culture, core values, and standards. Rely on the HR Manager for alignment and support.
  • Develop and manage defined communication channels across various stakeholder groups to build effective relationships and produce superior products.
  • Abide by all rules and regulations set forth in the employee handbook.
  • Access staffing needs and interviews, hires and onboards production staff.
  • Provides additional safety and production training, as needed.
  • Organizes and oversees the work and schedules of departmental supervisors.
  • Conducts performance annual evaluations and intermediary formal check ins timely and constructively.
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.
  • Perform other duties/ tasks as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • 5 to 10 years of experience in the manufacturing industry with high level of customized work. WE DO NOT DO A LOT OF STANDARD PRODUCTS

  • 5+ years of related leadership experience in a production facility with at least 150 employees
  • Degree in Business, Mechanical Engineering, or Operational Excellence/LEAN or related field, preferred.
  • Bilingual Spanish / English in a strong preferred
  • Team player, we are not looking for hero, we are looking for somebody that can interact with all the department and come up with a solution as a team.
  • Intermediate to advance knowledge of MS Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and ERP Systems General knowledge and prior experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Strong organizational skills, detail orientation, and commitment to precision and clarity
  • Strong problem-solving skills; with ability to be a decision maker as well as contributor.
  • Self-directed with a demonstrated sense of accountability
  • Preferred: Mechanical background, panel fabrication and electrical assembly industry experience, continuous improvement background and/or Six Sigma certification

  • Frequent standing and walking in a hot, humid, cold and noisy industrial work environment; non-climate-controlled environment; exposure to extreme hot or cold temperatures; exposure to machinery conditions of over 100⁰F; maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations.
