Senior Systems Administrator

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Senior Systems Administrator plays a critical role in providing technical leadership and expertise while overseeing the Level 2 technical support function and actively contributing to projects owned by the IT Support Team. This position will collaborate with a team of Systems Administrators and IT professionals to ensure the stability, security, and performance of our systems.

The incumbent will:

• Provide Level 2 technical support to end-users, resolving complex hardware, software, and network issues in a timely manner
• Serve as a technical escalation point for Level 1 support analysts, providing guidance and assistance to ensure prompt resolution of issues
• Lead and participate in projects owned by the IT Support Team, collaborating with Network or Systems Engineers and other team members to ensure successful project implementation
• Manage and maintain server infrastructure, including patching, installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of operating systems and server applications
• Implement and maintain security measures to safeguard systems and data from unauthorized access or breaches
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, procedures, and protocols using Confluence, ensuring accuracy and accessibility for team members
• Identify areas for process improvement and contribute to the development of IT policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address technical challenges and support organizational goals
• Share expertise and mentor junior team members to enhance overall team performance and foster a culture of continuous learning
• Responsible for being familiar with all compliance regulations and policies that are applicable to this position and follow and ensure compliance with these regulations and policies

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• Proven experience as a Systems Administrator in a complex IT environment
• Proficiency in Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory, and other server technologies
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

The physical requirements and environmental conditions of this position consist primarily of:

• Sustained standing and sitting
• Frequent use of PC, including typing or sustained attention to monitor
• Occasional lifting and/or moving equipment weighing up to 50 lbs
• Normal office environment with comfortable internal temperatures and low level noise
