Compensation:

  • $28-$29/hour, based on 40 hours
  • $42/hour for all Holidays

Job Title: Financial Counselling Coordinator

Responsibilities

Collaborates with manager of Reproductive Medicine Center (RMC) to ensure that accurate and timely execution of the responsibilities among financial counselors are consistent with Froedtert Hospital and Medical College of Wisconsin standards, policies, procedures, operational goals, and objectives. Responsible for remaining current with new guidelines, regulations, codes and trends in healthcare billing and reimbursement. Responsible for providing training to financial counselors, providers, and other RMC staff. Designs and monitors programs that promote continual quality improvement and corporate compliance. Monitors ATTAIN partnership. Serves as a liaison to the Patient Financial Services staff for Froedtert Health and the Medical College of Wisconsin. Assesses patient financial needs, councils, and assists patients through the financial process specific to Reproductive Medicine Center. Provide patients education, through financial consultation, on financial options available. Assist with applications for financing programs. Works with other clinic staff to answer patient questions regarding insurance benefits, financing programs available, and package pricing for infertility related services. Provide exceptional customer service and exhibit positive interpersonal relations while working closely with preauthorization, care management, and appropriate department personnel. Works with related organizations and vendors, where applicable, to address and resolve patient financial activities, problems, and issues, i.e., MCW, Froedtert Patient Financial Services, insurance companies, ATTAIN. Resource for EPIC and needed documentation for billing. Serves as an Epic expert for the Reproductive Medicine Center related to billing and patient charges for both the professional fees and hospital billing. Available as a resource for all providers, clinical and administrative staff for all billing requirements for both MCW and Froedtert. Assists financial counselors on cases or processing options. Resource for staff and providers in the Reproductive Medicine Center. Cross train and backup coverage for financial counselor positions to ensure adequate financial counselor coverage for all areas within department. Maintain expert level of knowledge of financial options available to patients. Counsels with patients to guide them through the financial process in Reproductive Medicine. Respond to staff questions or requests for guidance in processing ongoing work and participates in or leads staff training as directed. Ensures proper distribution of patient payments for the RMC "Third Party Program" ensuring anonymity of donors and recipients. Perform coding and charge capture processes for all ambulatory clinic services in conjunction with Reproductive Services for both MCW and Froedtert. Ensures all benefits and any authorizations required for procedures and other fertility treatments have been completed. Ensures all Epic work queues are completed timely. Enforces accounting and compliance processes. Performs pre-certification/recertification as needed. Remains current on all regulatory updates and policies/procedures changes; ensures that RMC billing and charging practices meet compliance and regulatory requirements. Participates in onboarding orientation with PFS managers and staff to gain understanding of the SBO systems and routine reports. Attends periodic meetings with PFS Director and/or Manager of Self Pay Billing to discuss standard work and priorities. Receives initial and annual education on PFS policies and procedures including data sharing. Receives updates on changes in institutional processes or other standard work. Works with Department leader to co-manage RMC Financial Counselor including providing on-going feedback. CPS provides access for PB, PFS and the Education department will provide training for EPIC PB.

Skills:

Experience and /or understanding of health care, medical insurance and procedural coding is preferred. Experience using computerized billing systems in a service industry is preferred. Epic, Microsoft Word, Excel, and other software programs is preferred.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Business, Management, Social Work, or related field is required. In lieu of degree a High School or GED and knowledge gained through at least 7-10 years focused experience is required.
