Mounds Park Academy is a PreK-12 independent school in Saint Paul, MN that serves approximately 575 students from throughout the Twin Cities area. Mounds Park Academy seeks a Student Success Teaching Assistant to join our Lower School faculty from April 2024. The primary responsibilities of this position are to support faculty with day-to-day student social-emotional and behavior management in the Lower School. This includes delivering intervention strategies proactively and in response to student needs, collaborating with the classroom and learning support teachers on developing behavior plans and tracking data for student success. This position will work collaboratively to help develop our sensory room and sensory integration supports. The candidate must also have a strong desire to work as part of a team and be committed to the longtime MPA philosophy of whole-child education.

It is expected that a successful candidate would:

  • Inspire and lead students to confidently enter the learning process
  • Supervise, encourage, counsel, and evaluate students, their learning behaviors, and their learning needs
  • Foster and sustain a positive learning environment
  • Communicate and meet with students and parents as necessary
  • Show a willingness to contribute to the life of the school outside of the classroom

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma
  • Experience working with students with various emotional/behavioral needs and academic, sensory, social, and behavioral concerns.
  • Comfortable using and teaching with technology

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education, Special Education, Psychology, Behavior Analysis, or related field
  • Experience as a paraprofessional in the field of special/exceptional education
