Position: Design and Construction Safety Manager

Work Location: Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), Newark, NJ

General Qualities:

- Proactive self-starter capable of setting a positive example for the staff.

Technical Responsibilities:

- Develop and implement safety plans and protocols for construction sites.

- Ensure that all onsite personnel are taking proper safety precautions and executing the site’s designated safety plans.

- Regularly perform workplace inspections to make sure that no unsafe conditions arise.

- Stay up to date with relevant industry regulations and draft emergency exit plans or targeted instruction for personnel onsite personnel.

- Work with Port Authority and contractors to develop safety plans and protocols that foster an open culture of safety.

- Conduct safety audits and inspections each day to ensure that personnel, equipment, and materials are in compliance with government safety regulations.

- Identifying safety-related risks and hazards on project sites and working with project leadership to design solutions to mitigate the exposure to those risks.

- Ensuring that everyone involved in any given project complies with company standards as well as local and state laws governing buildings, such as health codes, building codes, plumbing codes, or electrical codes.

- Training personnel on safety procedures and conducting safety training programs.

Educational /Professional Experience Required:

- Minimum of ten (10) years of experience as part of a safety management project team involved in the design and construction of major repair/rehabilitation infrastructure projects, preferably at major airports.

- Experience in oversight of crane operations.

- Familiar with Port Authority and airport work zone safety regulations.

- Knowledge of safety, security, and compliance-related regulatory requirements as they pertain to aviation/airport operations.

- Knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations.

- Technical competency in the field of aviation safety management systems, mishap prevention, and accident investigation.

- OSHA 40-hour certification required.

- Confined Space certification required.

- Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.

- Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.

- Ability to pass a SWAC Background Check at High Level.
