Industrial Engineer Intern - Summer 2024

Midwest Refrigerated Services is a full-service 3PL company providing refrigerated logistics services for the food industry. Based in Milwaukee, WI, we operate the largest fresh 48 state LTL consolidation pool with more than 100+ trucks, and offer multiple sites with cooler, and air-conditioned storage, distribution, and cross-docking services. We operate refrigerated and non-refrigerated warehouses for storage needs but also Value-Added Services such as specialty packing, kitting, and fulfillment needs. The Industrial Engineer Intern will take a hands-on approach during a 10-week program to help the utilization of facilities, equipment, and personnel to improve efficiency of operations. This role will work collaboratively with site team members to assist in the development and implementation of initiatives to achieve department and corporate objectives.

General Accountabilities include:

• Conduct work measurement programs and perform time work studies to develop standards for labor utilization.
• Assist with analyzing work force utilization, facility layout and operational data such as process flow charts and production schedules.
• Special projects as assigned.
• Time studies for each major warehousing task
  • Receiving - single stage with/without ASN.
  • Case Picking at a customer level.
  • Pallet Picking at a customer level.
  • Loading
• Fast start tracking -gap analysis. Office task review.
  • Auditor process review.
  • Customer service centralization study.
  • Facility/pick line layout.
  • Value Added Services - Productivity standards for all accounts.

Prerequisites:

• Enrollment in Bachelors of Science program in the field of Industrial Engineering, or other related technical degree.
• Located in or near Cedar Rapids, IA. Relocation assistance and housing not provided
