Wayside Publishing is a progressive developer of world language programs, resources, and materials for middle and high schools across the United States. We partner with educators to craft transformative texts and digital tools that engage students and foster successful communication and understanding across cultures.


What You'll Do

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Finance Intern to join our team. Reporting to the Finance Manager, and will also be working closely with the Controller, the Finance Intern will support various finance-related tasks, including financial analysis, reporting, ERP implementation, and budget planning. This role offers valuable hands-on experience and an opportunity to contribute to strategic projects within the finance department.

This is a US-Based College Internship


Responsibilities:

Financial Analysis and Reporting:

  • Assist in preparing financial reports and analysis to support decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Conduct variance analysis and identify trends to help management understand financial performance.

ERP Implementation:

  • Provide assistance with the implementation of an ERP system, including data migration, testing, and training activities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful implementation and integration of the ERP system.

Budget Planning and 5-Year Plan:

  • Support the development of annual budgets and a five-year financial plan, working closely with the Finance Manager and department heads.
  • Assist in analyzing budget variances and preparing budget performance reports.

Financial Process Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities to streamline financial processes and enhance efficiency within the finance department.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives and contribute ideas for optimizing financial operations.

Ad Hoc Projects and Analysis:

  • Assist with ad hoc financial projects and analysis as assigned by the Controller or Finance Manager.
  • Conduct research and gather data to support decision-making and strategic initiatives.

Other duties as assigned.


Requirements:
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work with large datasets and perform financial analysis.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial analysis tools/software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a remote environment.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment.
