We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Accounting and Finance Manager to join our team. This role provides the opportunity to oversee all aspects of our financial operations, from managing and leading the accounting team to performing hands-on bookkeeping tasks. You will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial records, providing valuable insights to management, and supporting strategic decision-making.

 

General Position Summary:

The Accounting and Finance Manager reports to the Director of Administration and is a member of the Organizational Strength Team, whose focus and the key result is organizational strength, ensuring that we are effectively managing assets – both people and profits.

The Accounting and Finance Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, and controlling the financial activities of the organization. The Accounting and Finance Manager will deliver monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, assess and implement internal controls, and enhance the company’s overall financial results using industry best practices as well as the outlined responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Accounting & Bookkeeping:
    • Manage and/or complete the day-to-day accounts payable and receivable processes, including invoice processing, payments, and collections.
    • Reconcile bank statements and ensure accurate financial records.
    • Prepare journal entries, general ledger updates, and financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
    • Oversee month-end, quarterly, and annual closing procedures and ensure timely and accurate reporting.
    • Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
    • Payroll processing and benefits transaction maintenance
  • Financial Management:
    • Assist in developing the annual budget and forecasting process.
    • Maintain the budget reporting.
    • Analyze financial data and trends to identify risks and opportunities.
    • Prepare management reports and provide guidance to senior leadership on financial performance.
    • Oversee cash flow management.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Provide coaching and mentorship to team members.
    • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
    • Ensure high-quality work standards are met.
  • Additional Responsibilities:
    • Prepare for and participate in external audits.
    • Maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) for all processes
    • Stay up-to-date on accounting regulations and best practices.
    • Implement and maintain accounting software applications.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Acceptable Experience and/or Education and Training:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in an accounting role.
  • Strong working knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles.
  • Proven experience with all aspects of the accounting cycle, including accounts payable, receivable, and general ledger.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and accounting software (QBO, Bill.com, Fathom).
  • Hands-on experience in Paylocity (or like-system)
