Job Description

Experienced claims professional in the field of Commercial lines property and Catastrophe claims of high complexity and exposure. Ensures complete and sound claim settlements, legal reviews, and investigations in accordance with company policies and procedures.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages a portfolio of Specialty Program claims and administers direction and oversight of the Program Claims handling
  • Reviews notices and leads the investigation, as necessary, to determine if the third-party administrator (TPA) properly evaluated the facts of the underlying loss(es), confirmed coverage, properly assessed liability, and adequately determined the extent of compensable damages
  • Provides specific claims information to management relative to high-exposure losses and matters involving potential areas of dispute
  • Assist counsel in preparation for and participation in arbitration and litigation proceedings
  • Produce timely initial notices and status reports on all programs
  • Ensures quality customer satisfaction by ensuring inquiries and issues are met in a timely manner
  • Maintains diary control of reported cases meeting our reporting guidelines to ensure updated status information exists and reserves properly reflect the company’s exposure
  • Accountable for the directing the handling of a portion of a portfolio of claims handled by the TPA or MGA arising from programs assigned to you
  • Performs special projects and assignments related to area of authority
  • Contribute to maintenance of claims guidelines and best practice procedures
  • Complies with established policies, procedures, and programs
  • Contribute feedback for the continuous improvements of our claims processes and procedures
  • Complete duties as assigned
  • To maintain compliance with any applicable UK or International statutory or regulatory obligation as required by the role. This includes but not limited to obligations arising from:
    • The prudent management of the business.
    • Placing due regard on the interests of customers.
    • Observing rules on Sanctions and financial crime.
    • Regulatory requirements and local licensing restrictions.
    • Promoting and follow the Group’s whistleblowing procedures

SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE

  • Proficient with a computer, particularly in Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of insurance products and solid understanding of insurance related procedures, compliance, and regulatory guidelines
  • Substantive experience and knowledge in handling Commercial Property claims, including Catastrophe claims and the monitoring and reporting of Cat exposures/events
  • High level of experience in analyzing and interpreting policy language and coverage evaluation
  • Management and supervisory experience a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to think critically, solve problems, and plan and organize activities
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task effectively under strict deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Limited travel not anticipated to exceed 3-4 trips annually

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Applicable adjuster’s licenses required
    • Accredited will expand your licenses as needed
  • CPCU or other industry designations are a plus

Experience

  • 5+ years experience in multiline commercial claims with a concentration in excess and surplus lines
