What is a catastrophe field property adjuster?

Catastrophe Field Property Adjusters are insurance professionals who travel to locations affected by disasters—such as hurricanes, tornadoes, or floods—to assess property damage and determine claim payouts. They inspect damaged homes and businesses, document losses, and work directly with policyholders to process insurance claims efficiently. Their work often involves traveling on short notice to disaster zones, working long hours, and adhering to strict timelines to help people recover quickly after catastrophic events.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a catastrophe field property adjuster?

To thrive as a Catastrophe Field Property Adjuster, you need a solid understanding of property insurance, claims investigation, and damage assessment, often supported by a relevant bachelor's degree and adjuster licensure. Familiarity with claims management software, digital inspection tools, and estimating systems like Xactimate is typically required. Strong problem-solving, communication, and empathy are crucial soft skills for effectively assisting policyholders during stressful situations.
