Grossing Technician

Summit Pathology Laboratories is looking to add an enthusiastic team player to our fast-paced, growing pathology company, as a Grossing Technician.  

Hourly Salary for this position is $22.00 to $26.00 per hour depending on qualifications.

As a Gross Tech, you will be responsible for assisting our Pathologist and PA’s in surgical pathology and organizational duties, including:

• Performing gross examination of simple surgical tissue specimens according to our training program 

• Coverage for UCHealth Memorial Hospital Central 

• Reviewing surgery schedules and patient histories 

• Test ordering and review in the supported LIS- LigoLab 

• Communicating workloads to the staffed Pathologist and PA. 

• Routinely interacting with hospital staff to triage surgical specimens. 

• Maintaining gross room inventory, supplies and general upkeep. 

• Practicing laboratory safety 

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements: 

• An earned or associate degree, in a laboratory science or medical laboratory technology obtained from an accredited institution. 

• Or education/training equivalent to the above that includes at least 60 semester hours or equivalent from an accredited institution. This education must include 24 semester hours of medical laboratory technology courses or 24 semester hours of science courses that includes six semester hours of chemistry, six semester hours of biology, and 12 semester hours of chemistry, biology, or medical laboratory technology in any combination. 

• All work will be performed within the laboratory and in close proximity to electrical instruments, computers, and other laboratory equipment and chemicals 

Additional considerations will be given to those with: 

• An earned Bachelor of Science degree, with a human anatomy course, obtained from an accredited institution. 

• Laboratory training including either completion of a clinical laboratory training program approved or accredited by the ABHES, the CAHEA, or other organization approved by HHS, or at least three months of documented high-complexity laboratory training, for each specialty test the individual performed.
