Job Description

Summary of Position Functions

The Journeyworker Welder III will handle welding of various piping systems in commercial structures such as schools, office buildings, hospitals and other commercial facilities.

Essential Position Functions

  • Interprets blueprints and specifications accurately.
  • Selects, measures, cuts, and joins appropriate metals to specifications.
  • Prepares metals and work surfaces to ensure safe and effective assemblage.
  • Reads drawings, welding symbol identifications, and tolerances.
  • Regularly cleans and inspects welding equipment and tools.
  • Ensures safety is a priority on the job during all activities.

Education and Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 2 plus years of related experience.
  • Pipe welding experience is a must.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to follow blueprints and understand technical instructions.
  • Excellent math skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently manage time/workload.
  • Ability to effectively respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers and staff.
  • Knowledge of Veregy’s services and processes is required which can be obtained through intellect, technical inclination, and dedication to gain such knowledge.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work under deadline pressure and extra hours if needed.
