Overall Position Summary and Objectives

The Perinatology Research Branch, DIR/NICHD (PRB) has conducted translational research on the subjects of normal pregnancy, labor, and pregnancy complications. The results of this research need to be disseminated in the form of publications in biomedical journals. The specific research intersects the disciplines of obstetrics, maternal-fetal medicine, microbiology, immunology, placental pathology, single-cell genomics, and computational biology.

    Statement of Work Details
    Provides technical experience needed to assist in analyzing scientific and technical research projects.
    • Produce scientific, technical and operational graphics for use in internal and external communications, web.

    Prepares various reports and presentations detailing analyses of data.

    • Produce publication quality, informative graphical representations of images from research studies.
    • Develop reports and provide material to justify the results of evaluating programs and program operations.
    • Participate on publications team on the development and production of annual and quadrennial news publications,
    • Define the type of multimedia needed to create either images, graphics or video and how they will be shared within the scientific community
    • Advise on the most informative images that can be used to circulate within the scientific community.
    • Create multimedia files in accordance with industry standards using a variety of video and image editing software to be posted on scientific multimedia websites including the American Journal of Obstetrics Gynecology, New England Journal of Medicine etc. as well as social media websites like YouTube and Twitter. File formats will be adjusted accordingly.
    • Research all updated multimedia programs and identify the benefits of combining new elements into multimedia files for dissemination.

    Performs basic research of various forms of scientific and technical literature and prepares summaries and indepth reviews.

    Coordinates with staff in order to communicate research progress and results.

    • Develop presentations for use by senior leadership to convey program accomplishments and key facts for use for both internal and external audiences.
    • Contribute to overall communication strategy development and implementation.

    Recommend changes and improvements in research processes and procedures.
