Pinnacle is looking for a motivated and qualified individual to join our firm. The position requires strong communication skills and knowledge base to bring comprehensive solutions to our client’s complex environmental problems. The position will have the opportunity to work on a broad range of projects including, but not limited to, air and water permitting, compliance reporting, facility assessments, and regulatory negotiations. This position will have a very broad range of opportunities to work on environmental compliance and permitting will receive support from senior personnel. This position will involve increasing levels of client contact as the selected applicant becomes successful in integrating into the Pinnacle system.

Essential Job Duties:

  1. Preparation of environmental permit applications and supporting calculations to meet State and Federal requirements.
  2. Preparing environmental compliance reports and plans (emission inventories, toxic release inventories, SPCC plans, Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans, etc.) in accordance with applicable permits and regulatory requirements.
  3. Conducting regulatory compliance audits to meet client internal needs.
  4. Communicating with State and Federal regulatory agencies as part of permit preparation, regulatory interpretation and staying informed on emerging regulations.
  5. Communicating with clients on status of projects and managing deliverables for assigned efforts.
  6. Provide training for our client’s staff on the requirements associated with permits, plans, and reports.
  7. Ability and willingness to travel for field work or work at client sites.
  8. Completion of required safety training (i.e. 40-Hour Hazwoper Training).
  9. Other duties as assigned.

  • Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, consultative, and customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated technical capabilities, including technical writing skills, technical calculations, attention to detail, accuracy, completeness, and capability to work within Microsoft Office Suite (MS Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
  • Demonstrated history of satisfying clients in a demanding and complex environment.
  • Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret complex documents and technical information.
  • Ability to solve problems involving several potential alternatives. Requires advanced analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills. This position requires simultaneously managing multiple ongoing assignments.
  • Capability to effectively present technical information to non-technical clients.
  • Flexible yet strong work ethic in order to meet project deadlines and client needs.

Preferred Education and Experience Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Chemical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Environmental Science, or a related scientific degree.
  • 5- 10 years consulting industry experience.
  • Prior project and client management responsibilities and interest in advancing these responsibilities.
  • Air dispersion modeling familiarity and competency.
  • New Source Review (NSR) air permitting including Prevention of Significant Deterioration (PSD) determination, along with Title V air permit preparation.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within a year of hire.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no initial supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment: This job operates in both office and field site settings.

Physical Demands (The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job).

  • Duties include the regular use of computer and phone systems.
  • The employee must be able to lift up to 20 pounds frequently and mobility to perform essential job duties.
  • Applicants must be able to work in out-of-office locations that may feature terrain typical of construction sites and to enter and work within industrial facilities.
  • An OSHA-mandated physical exam may be required prior to job placement.
  • Safety training will be provided by Pinnacle.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time exempt position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. As an exempt employee, additional hours in the evenings and weekends work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel: Local and overnight travel is as needed. Willingness to travel from 10 – 25% is desired.
