Class-Mechanic

Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• The Ability to work independently across multiple departments and manufacture complex assemblies. Ability to work from drawings, sketches, procedures, or verbal instructions to manufacture, assemble, alter, and repair components and assemblies manufactured by SCAI.
• Perform mechanical and electrical assembly operations and measurements requiring dexterity, judgement, and the ability to work to close dimensional tolerances using precision measuring equipment, hand and power tools, air gauges, brazing torches, induction methods and necessary equipment to complete specified assembly operations as required.
• Fit, attach, and assemble by threading, turning, brazing, soldering, or grinding.
• Perform static pressure tests and flow measurements accurately as required during assembly, development operation, run-in, and as a functional check.
• Use necessary hand and power tools, such as torque wrenches, drill press, bench lathe, band saw, surface grinder, bench grinder, threading equipment, ovens, electron beam welder and ultrasonic cleaner, multimeter, and voltmeter, etc.
• Perform necessary mathematics for proper and accurate assembly and alignment of components.
• Assist in the training of other employees as required. Maintain all required brazing certifications in accordance with SCAI Braze Procedures.
• Operate all Manufacturing and assembling equipment necessary for the performance of the duties of the job.
• Physical Requirements include: be able to lift, push, pull, and move items over 10 – 40 lbs
• Duties: Cryopump Assembly; Expander Assembly – 4K; Honing; Service Cold Heads / Cryopumps; Cylinder Assembly; Expander Displacer Assembly; Electron Beam Welder; Electrical General; Expander Assembly – 10K; Expander Sub-Assemblies; Service Compressors; Brazing; Compressor Assembly; Compressor Sub-Assemblies; Compressor Prep; Compressor Electrical Assembly; Oil Baking Operation; Oven & Hoses; Cryopanels

Minimum Requirements

• High school Diploma or GED; 18 years of age or older
• Consistent ability to report to work on time and work scheduled hours; able to adhere to attendance guidelines.
• Ability to multitask and self-prioritize work in order to successfully accomplish job duties.
• Ability to work both individually and in an established team setting;
• Ability to actively listen, understand and effectively communicate and follow verbal and written instructions in English.
• Basic Computer Skills.
• Ability to interpret (read) and work from blue prints,
• Previous forklift experience preferred.
• Ability to pass a personal background check and/or clearance at time of hire and as required by Customers is required.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship

Physical Requirements

• Regularly required to stand up to 8.0 hrs. Frequently required to walk, climb stairs, stoop, kneel, bend, and or crouch. Occasionally required to lift up to 40 lbs. occasionally required to exert up to 40 lbs. of force to push/pull objects or equipment within a production environment. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to hear audible alarms and communications. Must be able to work at various heights. Required to use wrists, hands and fingers to manipulate various items. Able to work in an environment that has extreme temperatures, humidity, hazardous/loud equipment, and slippery surfaces.
