Position Summary:
.
The Estimator will be responsible for accurately estimating the costs of materials, labor, and equipment required for construction projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of construction methods and materials, excellent mathematical skills, and the ability to analyze and interpret technical documents and blueprints. This role requires a combination of technical expertise, analytical thinking, and effective communication skills to collaborate with project managers, subcontractors, and clients. During the preconstruction process.

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Review project specifications, drawings, and other documents to understand project requirements.
  2. Perform quantity take-offs and prepare cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor services.
  3. Utilize estimating software and databases to generate accurate cost estimates.
  4. Analyze project scope and identify potential risks and opportunities.
  5. Visits sites of project locations to gather essential information.
  6. Collaborate with project managers, subcontractors, and suppliers to gather necessary information for estimating.
  7. Evaluate alternative materials and methods to optimize project costs and performance.
  8. Prepare detailed and organized cost proposals and bid packages.
  9. Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits to assess project conditions and requirements.
  10. Provide support during negotiations with subcontractors and suppliers.
  11. Analyzes subcontractor quotes for missing or inaccurate cost estimates.
  12. Update and maintain cost databases and historical cost data for future reference.
  13. Monitor industry trends and market conditions to stay informed about changes in pricing and availability of materials and services.
  14. Assist in value engineering efforts to achieve cost savings without compromising quality or performance.
  15. Collaborate with the project management team to ensure smooth transition from estimating to project execution and regarding costs during the project course of construction.
  16. Performs special assignments and other duties as determined by the Principal.



Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or related field preferred.
  2. Proven experience as an estimator in the construction industry.
  3. Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and building codes.
  4. Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications.
  5. Experience with construction estimating software such as X Excel, Accubid, or Blubeam
  6. Excellent mathematical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
  7. Effective communication and negotiation skills.
  8. Communicates effectively.
  9. Maintains strong relationships within the organization.
  10. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  11. Strong organizational and time management skills to meet project deadlines.
  12. Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and requirements.
  13. Knowledge of LEED and sustainable construction practices is a plus.
  14. Professional certifications such as Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) or Certified Construction Estimator (CCE) are desirable.



Immediate Supervisor: This position reports to the Principal and CEO.
