Purpose of Role
Accounting program director is needed to oversee undergraduate and graduate programs in accounting, as well as to manage a remote accounting certificate program in Brooklyn. Responsibilities will include teaching, advising, and building the accounting program at Daemen University.
About This Opportunity
Joining our Business and Accounting team, the Accounting Program Director will be responsible for the following:
- Teaching Accounting and/or Finance courses
- Managing Accounting undergraduate, graduate, and certificate program curricula to ensure program offerings meet external regulatory requirements.
- Advising Accounting students
- Recruiting Accounting students
- Developing relationships with accounting firms to facilitate student internships and placements
- Overseeing Accounting student clubs and groups.
- Overseeing the management and coordination of the VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) program
- Responsible for Accounting program accreditation and serving as the primary liaison between the accreditor and the program.
- Serve on department and college committees as needed.
- Ensure the appropriate staffing of accounting and finance courses to include recruiting, hiring, training and evaluating adjunct and full-time faculty.
- Developing and managing the accounting program budgets
- Designing new and revising accounting curriculum courses
Additional Expectation for tenure-track line
- Fulfill standards set per the faculty handbook in the areas of teaching, service, and scholarship and professional.
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD or DBA and MBA or MS in Tax or Accounting. JD or EdD may considered in lieu of PhD or DBA, depending on experience and background
- Teaching experience in an online (distance education) format is a plus.
Minimum Qualifications
- CPA or CMA and professional experience in the field of Accounting
- Tax background is a plus
Total Compensation
Daemen University offers a robust total compensation package that includes:
