JOB TITLE: Material Receiving Technician

SUMMARY:
The Piasecki Aircraft Corporation Material Receiving Technician is responsible for performing inspections, sampling procedures of incoming materials, parts and components used in the manufacturing of aircrafts. The Shipping & Receiving Supervisor will oversee and uphold the quality and integrity of all parts manufactured; and support operations to help meet internal/external goals to both our suppliers and customers.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure the department is run in a safe, professional manner; all employees are trained in the job requirements, required safety procedures, and compliance to all AS9001 and customer processes and certifications.
- Coordinate shipping schedules for production and properly plan for mixed product loads. Work with them to resolve questions regarding shipping schedules or product unavailable for shipment as scheduled.
- Administer reconsignment of freight, refusals, problems with delivery, returned merchandise, etc. as necessary.
- Schedule shipments for both finished goods and in-process outside services.
- Oversee receiving, verifying, and stocking inbound materials.
- Coordinate shipment logistics with outside freight companies.
- Maintain documentation of the shipping and receiving function
- Receives credit-return materials from production by verifying identifying information and quantity of materials; placing materials in inventory.
- Prepares shipments by assembling, packing, protecting, and labeling containers.
- Determines method of shipment by examining items to be shipped, destination, route, rate, and time of shipment.
- Ships items by verifying identifying information and quantity and condition of items; loading and protecting items.
- Documents items shipped by recording identifying information of items and transport information.
- Maintains shipping and receiving materials by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed materials; placing and expediting orders for materials; verifying receipt of materials.
- Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations.
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:
- Supervisory experience in logistics required.
- Attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
- Proficient in the use of computers; Microsoft Office applications and ERP systems (Deltek – Costpoint Preferred) .
- Proven track record for on-time delivery, record-keeping, and purchasing.
- Solid written and verbal communication skills.
- Great problem-solving skills, ability to read/comprehend sales, manufacturing orders, and bill of materials.
- Experiences with completion of Bills of Lading and familiarity with various forms that are used and required by major freight carriers.
- Ability to follow safety guidelines and policies to ensure a safe working environment.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work under pressure and meeting strict deadlines.
- Advanced understanding of general shipping policies and regulations regarding freight and be familiar with rates and routes to determine appropriate shipping methods.
EDUCATION / CERTIFICATIONS / CLEARANCES:
- A minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in a shipping & receiving supervisory position, preferably in a manufacturing and/or aerospace environment.
- Licensed fork lift operator preferred, but not required.
