ROLE MISSION 
The Battery Materials Characterization Scientist will report directly to the CTO and is entrusted with the mission to lead and inspire technological excellence, propelling ADVANO to the forefront of innovation in the battery materials and energy storage space, with a specific focus on advancing REALSi technologies.  

This role will play a key role in understanding performance of ADVANO’s REALSi using advanced materials characterization techniques. The ideal candidate should have deep expertise in various materials characterization techniques such as XRD, SEM, FTIR, and TGA. The selected candidate will be instrumental in establishing crucial process and property relationships, thereby playing a pivotal role in driving the development of next generation battery materials.

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE 

  • PhD or Master's degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field. 

  • Demonstrated expertise in battery materials, interfaces, electrolytes, and electrochemistry. Ability to apply this expertise to analyze and interpret complex data related to battery performance. 

  • Proficiency in a variety of materials characterization techniques, including but not limited to XRD, Optical, SEM, FIB/SEM, ICP, Raman, FTIR, DSC, TGA, GC-MS, and Gas Sorption. 

  • Experience in selecting and applying appropriate techniques for different types of battery materials, including silicon-carbon composites. 

  • Utilization of mechanistic understanding of battery materials, interfaces, electrolytes, and electrochemistry to interpret analytical and cell test data. 

  • Ability to acquire, analyze, and interpret data to establish process and property relationships for battery materials. 

  • Stay current with advancements in materials characterization techniques and battery science to inform research activities and enhance experimental methodologies. 

  • Familiarity with computational and simulation methods for mechanical behavior of batteries and components preferred.

Travel is not required for this role.
