We seek a skilled and experienced in-house counsel/attorney for our client’s claims team. As a key member of the legal and claim department, you will provide strategic legal advice and support to ensure adequate representation of the insured, compliance, risk management, and effective legal solutions of commercial claim operations.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide guidance to claim staff on policy interpretation, coverage analysis, and other legal matters
- Key member of claim legal strategy and will roundtable litigated matters with claim advocates and claim managers
- Offer proactive legal counsel on regulatory compliance
- Conduct investigations and assessments regarding potential legal risks and disputes, providing recommendations and resolutions
- Collaborate to develop, update, and implement policies and procedures in accordance with legal and regulatory changes
- Conduct risk assessments and develop strategies to minimize legal exposure
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of agreements, including vendor contracts, leases, employment agreements, and partnership arrangements
Skills & Experience
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree and active Bar membership in good standing
- Minimum 5 years of experience practicing law with insurance experience
- Proven experience in contract negotiation, drafting, and review
- Must be able to travel to field offices and have a valid driver’s license (Up to 30% travel)
Compensation & Benefits
$100,000 to $130,000, bonus, competitive benefits
