Job Description

Job Title: Intensive Psychiatric Technician

Position Type: Full Time

Schedule: 7:00am-7:00pm Every other weekend

Location: Houston, 77006

Travel Percentage: 10-20%

Department: Residential

Reports To: Manager of Residential Services

Salary: $16.00-$18.50 Hourly

Pay Schedule: Semi-monthly

Description: This role entails supervising residents to ensure their safety and maintaining an environment conducive to rehabilitation, particularly focusing on residents in the intensive phase of programming. As a Psychiatric Technician, you will play a crucial role in providing support and care to individuals within a psychiatric setting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise intensive residents, maintaining a conducive rehabilitation environment, including medication management, household tasks, emergencies, and rule enforcement.
  • Provide general campus supervision during both day and night shifts, including escorting residents to appointments, recreational activities, and offering transportation assistance, including driving and ordering cabs when necessary.
  • Enforce Residential Handbook policies, monitor meal preparation, cleanup, and kitchen security, while also coordinating nighttime activities, outings, and providing support and feedback to residents in emotional distress.
  • Maintain visibility, assist with conflict resolution, and remain alert throughout the shift, including overseeing client visitation, conducting drug tests, and performing other assigned duties.
  • Attend monthly staff meetings, clinical team meetings, and work at other program locations as needed and available.
  • Observe and record residents' self-administered medication, dispense over-the-counter meds, provide cleaning supplies for chores, and ensure proper completion. Also, secure premises by locking doors and appliances at the end of the shift.
  • Position may include working other shifts or program locations as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Preferred Bachelor's degree in Human Services or related field.
  • Experience with substance abuse, mental illness, and the ability to set and maintain boundaries with residents.
  • Valid Texas Driver's license with a clean record and availability for flexible shifts.
  • Demonstrated maturity, sound decision-making skills, and a willingness to assist residents as needed, consulting with a supervisor when necessary.
  • Clean criminal background.
  • Position may include working other shifts or program locations as needed.
