SENIOR ACCOUNTANT

THE POSITION:
The Senior Accountant reports to the Director of Finance and Accounting. This position is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the accounting department. Primary responsibilities include the month-end close, semi-monthly payroll and benefits preparation, assisting with client billing, accounts receivable and collections, accounts payable, vendor management, and recording of cash activity.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Preparing Month/Year end financial statements, including monthly journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations, and variance analyses
- Preparing semi-monthly payroll/benefits files for review and submission by the Director of Finance and Accounting, including managing employee benefits and reconciling monthly benefits invoices
- Managing company tax compliance, including 1099, 1094/1095, and sales tax reconciliation and remittances
- Daily recording of cash activities, including remote bank deposits
- Processing and remitting client invoices, including tracking collections as needed
- Managing vendors, including getting approvals for, coding and paying invoices, and responding to vendor compliance requests as needed
- Tracking client postage deposits and accurately posting credits to the billing system
- Completing other projects or administrative tasks as requested
EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in business, Accounting, or a related discipline
- 5-7 years of accounting experience
- Knowledge and experience with accounting systems (Microsoft Dynamics GP-preferred)
- Strong Microsoft Excel and Word skills
- Strong communication skills and a self-starter
- Strong organization and process-oriented skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and assignments simultaneously
