Decorator and Baker

For The Love of Sugar is looking for a decorator and baker to join our strong team. This position includes working at both our Garden City kitchen and Detroit storefront. Our ideal candidate is self-driven, a team player, punctual, and reliable. We are an upscale bakery offering an array of French Macarons, cakes by the slice, coffee, custom cakes, wedding cakes, and more! This position requires someone creative who loves working with from scratch recipes and playing around in the kitchen! Opportunities to grow with the bakery are on-going.

Qualifications

• Will require working 2-3 times a week at the Detroit location and 2-3 times a week in our Garden City commercial kitchen location (Garden City is not open to the public).
• Some experience with cakes, buttercreams, macarons, cinnamon rolls, and cheesecakes preferred.
• Proficient in using a scale and reading recipes.
• Able to adjust and create new recipes alongside the owner and team.
• Job requires full time (5 days a week), flexible accommodating schedule
• Prefer to work in a team oriented and fast paced environment.
• Detroit, MI 48201 & Garden City, MI 48135: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required).
• Required to use a company delivery van for deliveries. Deliveries occur approximately 2-3 times a week.
• Must have a good driving record.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Must be available ALL holidays (some accommodations can be made)

Responsibilities

• Baking macarons, cheesecakes, cake layers, cinnamon rolls (everything is made from scratch).
• Assisting at Garden City kitchen with classes through out the month
• Working with the team on new holiday items
• Helping with custom cake orders
• Filling and icing cakes
• Clean and sanitize workstation and equipment
• Assisting with new projects
• Ability to organize, prioritize, multi-task and accomplish tasks with high level of attention to detail
• Loading, transporting, and delivering items to the bakery or businesses in a safe, timely manner with a friendly attitude
• Following delivery specifications set forth by owner and management

Salary: $16.00 - $19.00 per hour plus tips
