Our client, Avfuel, provides the global aviation industry with an array of services from fuel, equipment and training, to marketing and sales consultation. Their customers are far reaching: fixed-base operators, airports, corporate flight departments, helicopter operators, commercial airlines, cargo haulers and military entities. Avfuel has an opportunity for a Corporate Tax Accountant to join their team in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The select candidate will be responsible for corporate tax return coordination and select insourcing opportunities. Team members are eligible to work remotely one-two days per week after the initial training period.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Coordinating and submitting work papers, allocations, and corporate income tax information requests (federal, state, and/or international).
- Research and understand potential impact of tax legislation changes.
- Collaborate with internal teams to gather necessary information for tax reporting.
- Participate in streamlining and improving income tax reporting processes through automation and potential insourcing opportunities.
- Assist with cross-functional tax department projects.
- Tax liability forecasting, communication and payment facilitation.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- High level of confidentiality
- Proficiency with one or more accounting systems (QuickBooks desired). Intermediate GL accounting required.
- Advanced-level Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills necessary in order to communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
- Ability to collaborate with team members.
- Ability to effectively manage and execute multiple tasks, projects and priorities.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to provide exceptional customer service.
- Ability to identify issues, compare data, investigate and resolve discrepancies.
- Proven analytical problem solver.
- Must be a self-starter with a strong work ethic.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in corporate accounting or a tax/home office department.
- 4+years' experience, with federal income tax compliance or related tax reporting preferred.
