School Engagement Specialist

We are seeking a part-time variable school engagement caseworker to join us on our mission in serving the community. The ideal candidate will thrive in environments where no two days are the same, have great organizational skills, and a passion for helping children, youth, and families.

What Do I Need?
Education and Experience

High school diploma AND five years of experience in the child services field

OR

A degree in human services or a related field AND two years of experience (preferred)

• You will maintain all required clearances.
• You will maintain a valid driver'slicense and have reliable transportation.

• You will maintain clear accurate documentation of all services, ensuring timely submission following agency policy.
• You will attend and participate in staff supervisions and meetings as required.
• You will participate in quality improvement activities and planning may be requested.
• You will be responsible for timely submission of hours worked.
• You will be responsible for other related duties as assigned.

What Will I Do?

• You will receive youth referrals, obtain consent for services, and identify the School Engagement Team Members (SETMs) for the youth. Members may include the youth, caregiver(s), school staff, county services, district magistrates, provabion officers, and others as appropriate.
• You will identify the youth and caregiver(s) strengths, needs, and risk factors which contribute to school absences connecting to communty resources as appropriate.
• You will collaborate with the youth, caregiver(s), and SETMs to develop an Individualized School Engagement Plan (ISEP) that contains goals, measurable objectives, behavioral strategies, safety plan, and a serfice titration plan.
• You will monitor the youth's daily attendance conducting periodic mid-day review to ensure the youth remains in school and is attending classes as assigned.
• You will verify with caregivers and the school when the youth is tardy or absent that legal justification fo the absence has been submitted taking appropriate action when it has not been.
• You will conduct regular home visits, phone/video calls, and team meetings where concerns can be voiced, strategy effectiveness can be discussed, and skills can be transferred.
• You will communicate reqularly with SETMs concerning the youth's participation in services and school atttendance.
• You will attend and participate in truancy court hearings as needed.
