Senior Accountant/Supervisor

Full job description

Summary: Directs the financial affairs of the organization and prepares financial analyses of operations, including interim and final financial statements with supporting schedules, for the guidance of management. The Senior Accountant is responsible for the company's financial plans and policies, its accounting practices, the conduct of its relationships with lending institutions and the financial community, the maintenance of its fiscal records, and the preparation of financial reports. This position also requires working with HR to facilitate timely resolution of problems.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Apply up-to-date knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and industry-specific regulations.
• Implement forecasting systems to project financial needs. Suggest contingency plans to the President in advance to preserve Grangetto's credit and cash position.
• Prepares reports which summarize and forecast company business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and expected operations.
• Prepare and present the final budget to the President and Owner for approval. Monitor the budget vs. actual results on a monthly basis. Proactively communicate budget deviations to the President and make recommendations to remedy problems.
• Coordinates work with outside CPA.
• Daily bank reconciliation.
• Establishes relations with banks and other financial institutions.
• Oversee administration of Employee Benefits.
• Recommend changes to the company processes and policies to promote efficiency, reduce cost and maximize profit.
• Collect and analyze financial statements for discrepancies and alert management.
• Manage external business entities, including bill payment, reconciliation.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervises three employees in the Accounting Department; Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Staff Accountant. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Equipment and Applications:

• Proficiency in payroll, banking, IT, General Accounting, Insurance and Retirement
• Microsoft Office Suite
• ERP software (a background in Epicor would be a plus)

Education: 4 year degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Management or equivalent experience.

Work Experience: Must have at least 5 years of accounting experience, including 1+ years as a supervisor preferred.

Physical Demands: Sit at computer for long period of time.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
