2600 Outside Tank Yard Caretaker II

We have an opening for a Day Shift - Outside Caretaker II.
Summary
Assists in maintaining the tank yard to assure proper storage and handling of raw materials.
Essential Functions
- Pumps brine to tanks as needed to maintain required tank brine level. Uses ladder to install tank plugs and uses hoses to fill to desired level with brine.
- Unheads and/or heads tanks as needed. Obtains samples of brinestock as directed.
- Manually lifts and moves tank heads, 4x4’s, and other supplies.
- Circulates tanks of brinestock using circulating pump or air blowers.
- Cleans out and washes down tanks as necessary after stock is emptied from them.
- Cleans the unloading area, around and under tanks, the platforms, between the rows, and other areas to maintain safe and sanitary conditions.
- Remains alert to conditions in the tank yard that would adversely affect the quality of stock.
- Follows safety rules and company policies.
Other Duties
- Uses skimmer and brush to clean top of brine tanks.
- Assists with tanking of brinestock and fresh cucumbers.
- Operates forklift for material or equipment handling.
- Performs minor carpentry repairs and reports any unsafe conditions on the platforms to appropriate personnel.
- Cleans drains and ditches.
- Adds salt to tanks as directed by operating forklift or by shoveling salt into bins.
- Occasionally assists with other duties in Outside Production.
- Participates in training, employee meetings, committees, project teams, etc. as appropriate.
- Receives written and verbal instructions on the above job tasks and performs other duties as directed by Supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
High school graduate preferred. Certified forklift operator required. This is a heavy, physical job and requires significant upper body strength.

Forklift, Hand Tools, Pumps, Dipper, Hoses, Ladder, Broom, Brush, Shovel, Skimmer, Plastic Cover, Tractor, Pressure Washer.
Physical Demands
Climbing: Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Body agility is emphasized. This factor is important if the amount and kind of climbing required exceeds that required for ordinary locomotion.
- Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at waist. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerate degree and requires full use of the lower extremities and back muscles.
- Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
- Pushing: Using upper extremities to press against something with steady forces in order to thrust forward, downward, or outward.
- Pulling: Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, drag, haul, or tug objects in a sustained motion.
- Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a high position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles.
- Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
- Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
- Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make fine discriminations in sound.
- Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/ or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and\or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- The worker is required to have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles or heavy equipment.
Work Environment
Works outside, subject to wide seasonal temperature variations and intermittent wetness from rain or some job tasks. Gloves, goggles, ear protection and steel inserts for shoes available as needed.
