Senior Developer

What You Will Do:

The Office of Performance Analysis and Integrity manages and enhances the Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) which resides on one Oracle M8 Supercluster database and thirteen application servers. Our team provides the technical services required to sustain EDW applications to include Project Management, Data Warehouse Management, Advanced Analytics, Tableau Server Administration/Tableau Desktop Administration, Technical Collaboration Support, Lessons Learned, Executive Orders and Special Projects, Architectural Enhancement, and Cloud Migration. We also provide management, enhancement, integration, implementation, maintenance, modernization, and infrastructure support for EDW applications as well as enhancement and maintenance of business intelligence capabilities and predictive analytics.

ASI is looking for a Senior Developer with expertise in Data Warehousing and Analytics to join this team. This position is contingent upon award from the government.

Functional Job Information:

A Senior Developer must be able to create logical and functional software code in a variety of languages. Must have experience in understanding and articulating the benefits and risks associated with different coding languages in different functional environments. Must have experience reacting to problems and correcting the program as necessary. As a senior member of the team the Senior Developer is expected to provide guidance and technical oversight over lesser experienced junior and mid-level developers in the execution of their assigned tasks.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Be available on Government site in Washington DC during normal hours of operations.
• Developing and maintaining code utilizing SQL, PL SQL, and Unix Shell scripts.
• Work as part of a development team to support an EDW and resolve complex problems.
• Install, configure, and maintain Oracle OBIEE tools.
• Work with complex data structures to create dashboards and Ad hoc reports with the OBIEE tools.
• Design, develop, and deploy data models.
• Identify performance and processing issues and provide recommendations to optimize the BI products.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues in reports and dashboards.
• Work with Stakeholders to identify Key Performance Indicator (KPI) metrics and automate metric collection and reporting.
• Create and maintains documentation including data models, system design and configuration documents, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
• Coordinate with technical resources to plan and execute systems maintenance activities.
• Ensures systems have been secured and are maintained in accordance with agency and federal security policy and regulation.
• Coach and mentor less experienced, junior developers.
• Participates in team calls and meetings.
• Provides accurate and timely status reports on the progress of assigned tasks.
• Provides data and performance metrics for official reporting deliverables.
• Other responsibilities as assigned.

YOUR NEEDED VALUE:

• Master’s Degree in technical discipline, additional 15 years of experience considered in lieu of degree.
• 10+ years of experience as a developer, including full stack development experience.
• Experience with SDLC, including both Agile and waterfall methodologies.
• Experience with Kanban boards and iterative development under a DevSecOps mindset.
• Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain the required security clearance.
