Summary:
Join the team as a Foreign Patent Prosecution Paralegal, where you'll play a vital role in providing support to clients and attorneys in matters related to international patent applications. This is an in-office position based in our Washington, DC office.

  • Job Title: Foreign Patent Prosecution Paralegal
  • Hours: Core hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., including a one-hour lunch break. Flexibility to work additional hours is required.
  • Work Schedule: Hybrid – 3 days in-office; 2 days remote.
  • Salary: $80,000-$105,000 annually

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage foreign patent applications for clients under attorney supervision.
  • Draft correspondence pertaining to foreign patent applications for clients and foreign associates.
  • Prepare conversion deadline letters for clients and provide cost estimates.
  • Handle the preparation of PCT International Applications, process PCT Forms from WIPO, and report progress to clients.
  • Assist in preparing National Applications and PCT National Phase applications for submission to Foreign Associates, monitoring applications, and updating clients.
  • Prepare formality documents and procure legalized documents for filing in foreign Patent Offices.
  • Process Letters Patent documents and communicate updates to clients.
  • Collaborate with annuity service to facilitate client patent renewal payments.
  • Maintain and manage daily and personal dockets effectively.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in foreign filing.
  • Proficiency in PCT and foreign patent rules and procedures.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.), document management systems (e.g., iManage, etc.), and Adobe PDF file format.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and acute attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with individuals at all levels.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
