Senior Accountant

The Senior Accountant is responsible for completing general accounting related tasks and assisting the Controller. Prepares detailed journal entries and account analyses. May assist in financial statement preparation. In addition, identifies and implements process improvement opportunities within the accounting function. Must have knowledge of and ability to work with multiple software systems utilized throughout the company to ensure accurate accounting and auditing functions.

• Position is hybrid with 3-4 days/week on-site at our Home Office in York, ME- must be fully on-site during peak timeframes

Job Summary

• Focus on general accounting integration work associated with acquisitions.
• Reconciling Intercompany transactions between multiple accounting software’s.
• Month end close including completion of journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and detailed account analysis.
• Maintain and utilize month end management software.
• Review monthly expense flux analyses prepared by department managers.
• Maintaining and reconciling fixed assets schedules.
• Assist with annual financial statement audit preparation.
• Assist with preparing audit request list during audit Fieldwork.
• Tax related experience, assist in resolving Federal and State tax issues with agencies.
• Responsible for posting daily banking transactions and bank reconciliations for multiple accounts.
• Assist with other accounting functions, such as internal and external audits, year-end reports. Coordinate with tax professionals to ensure timely filing of documents and amounts payable.
• Responsible for complying with accounting procedures and internal controls.
• May be required to work in excess of 40 hours per week periodically as business needs require.

• Minimum BS degree in Accounting, with 5+ year’s experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
• Strong knowledge and ability to learn and apply technical accounting concepts in accordance with US GAAP
• Merger and Acquisition and/or Consolidation reporting experience would be a plus
• Experience with Annual Audit Preparation and Tax Filings.
• Experience working with an ERP system preferable; MS Navision a plus
• Strong analytical and problem- solving skills. Ability to multitask.
• Proficient in MS Excel and Outlook
• Demonstrated problem solving and analytical capabilities with a sense of urgency and results driven, along with a strong attention to detail
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, participation in meetings with vendors and management team.
• Must have excellent organizational skills and be able to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
• Ability to work with little to no supervision.
