We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized individual to join our team as a Medical Records Clerk. The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure the accuracy, confidentiality, and accessibility of patient medical records. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.



Responsibilities:


1. Maintain and organize patient medical records in accordance with regulatory requirements and organizational policies.

2. Process requests for medical records from healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients in a timely manner.

3. Ensure the accuracy and completeness of medical records by reviewing and verifying information such as patient demographics, diagnoses, treatments, and procedures.

4. Enter data into electronic health record (EHR) systems and update patient information as necessary.

5. Respond to inquiries and provide assistance to healthcare professionals and patients regarding medical records requests and documentation.

6. Maintain confidentiality and security of patient information by adhering to HIPAA regulations and privacy guidelines.

7. Collaborate with healthcare providers and administrative staff to ensure proper documentation and record-keeping practices.

8. Assist with record retention, disposal, and archival processes in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

9. Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities to stay current on industry standards and best practices.

Requirements:

Education Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree or certification in Health Information Management (HIM) preferred.

Experience:

  • 1-2 years of New Patient scheduling
  • Previous experience working in a healthcare setting or medical records department preferred.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology, coding systems (ICD-10, CPT), and EHR software.
  • Managing communications between two EMR.
  • Basic insurance knowledge
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with patients, healthcare providers, and colleagues.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including data entry, electronic record management, and basic office software (e.g., Microsoft Office).
