Senior Technical Editor (Secret Clearance)

What level Clearance do I need? You must possess an active Secret clearance.

What will I be doing? In this position you will be using your technical editing expertise to support the review of written material and revising it for clarity, grammar, style, and content in support of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Office for Bombing Prevention (OBP) and Infrastructure Security Division (ISD) Front Office. In addition, you will be:

• Copy editing OBP materials by reviewing style and formatting to ensure documents meets CISA and OBP guidelines;
• Proofreading document and written products for correct grammar and spelling, and making suggestions to writers, and completing the final review before submittal or publication;
• Creating style guides to help and train writers on CISA and OBP preferred style and writing voice;
• Producing templates help writers produce documents;
• Verifying information to ensure information is correct, checking facts, reviewing resources, and conducting additional research; 
• Generating new content ideas using a creative process to suggest new content or brainstorm ideas with OBP personnel; 
• Collaborating with other writers and subject experts to create quality content, revising materials for a target audience, and ensuring accuracy;
• Other duties as assigned.

What experience, training, and education do I need?

You must meet the minimum requirements:

• 10+ years of Technical Editing/Copywriting experience
• 2 years of experience writing to the DHS Writing Style Guide or comparable experience
• Experience working with an Executive Secretariat Team
• Experience/use of the CISA House Style Guide and CISA Writing Style Guide or comparable experience
• Experience writing policy content using various materials, including NIST standards
• Experience drafting content for multiple mediums, such as social media posts, internal emails, talking points, briefings, memos, website content, presentations, reports, etc.
• Drupal experience
• Excellent attention to detail, communication, and time management skills
• Active Secret security clearance

The following experience is preferred:

• BS / BA degree or equivalent, Master's degree highly desired
