Refrigeration Technician - Austin Area - Direct Hire Opportunity

The Refrigeration Service Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing refrigeration systems and equipment, ensuring they operate efficiently and effectively. This role requires a combination of technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and customer service skills to address the needs of clients in various industries. Must have experience servicing walk-in coolers/freezers, racks, evaporators, condensers, cases, ice machines, etc.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Installation:

   • Install refrigeration systems according to blueprints, technical specifications, and building codes.
   • Assemble and position components such as compressors, condensers, evaporators, motors, and piping.
   • Ensure proper insulation, wiring, and safety measures are in place during installation.

2. Maintenance:

   • Perform routine maintenance on refrigeration systems to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
   • Inspect equipment for leaks, malfunctions, or other issues.
   • Clean and replace filters, coils, and other components as needed.
   • Calibrate controls and sensors to maintain temperature and humidity levels.

3. Repairs:

   • Diagnose and troubleshoot refrigeration system malfunctions.
   • Repair or replace defective components such as compressors, valves, thermostats, and motors.
   • Test repaired systems to ensure proper functionality.
   • Document all repairs and maintenance activities for record-keeping purposes.

4. Customer Service:

   • Interact with clients to understand their refrigeration needs and address any concerns or questions.
   • Provide recommendations for system upgrades or replacements based on performance assessments.
   • Communicate effectively with clients and colleagues to coordinate service schedules and resolve issues promptly.

5. Compliance:

   • Adhere to safety regulations and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries.
   • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations related to refrigerant handling and disposal.
   • Stay updated on industry standards, best practices, and technological advancements in refrigeration technology.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical training in refrigeration systems preferred.
• Relevant certifications such as EPA Section 608 certification for handling refrigerants.
• Proven experience as a refrigeration technician or similar role.
• Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
• Knowledge of refrigeration principles, systems, and components.
• Familiarity with tools and equipment used in refrigeration maintenance and repair.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record (if applicable).

Schedule:

• Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm (with overtime if required)
