Senior Financial Accountant

Summary

The Senior Financial Accountant is responsible for recording and reconciling entries related to the Bank’s investments, derivatives, purchased pool loans, subordinated debt, equity commissions and CECL reserve. In addition, the Senior Financial Accountant will prepare the monthly financial statements and consolidation, own all GL maintenance and controls and the preparations of schedules and timelines for the regulatory reporting requirements of the Bank.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and supports the timely and accurate preparation of various financial and regulatory reporting including monthly financials, quarterly and annual financial statements, debt covenants and regulatory reporting (Call Report, QCD, Y9, FR2900, PDPA).
  • Prepares the quarterly deferred tax workbook and CECL workbook including updating documentation.
  • Assist in general accounting entries including daily recons, P&I recons and month-end close entries as assigned.
  • Performs balance sheet reconciliations including the timely research and resolution of outstanding items.
  • Cross-trains and acts as backup to other members of the accounting team including support of daily settlement and daily reconciliations.
  • Aids in the preparation and review of the monthly variance analysis and Board package.
  • Performs and documents technical accounting and regulatory research as needed in addition to streamlining reporting and documenting procedures.
  • Prepares quarterly equity roll-forward including reviewing and understanding stock compensation plans.
  • Key stakeholder in ensuring the documented system of internal controls, accounting policies and procedures are operating effectively.
  • Main liaison for the internal and external audit process.
  • Assists in monitoring liquidity, debt levels and compliance with debt covenants and preparation sub-debt calculations.
  • Supports compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings including tax returns, personal/real property tax, sales and use tax, and 1099s.
  • Supports Management in completing special projects, ad hoc reporting and analysis requests.
  • Aids in the testing, implementation or enhancements of new systems including a new ERP system.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
  • Master’s Degree and CPA License preferred.
  • 3-6+ years of progressively responsible and relative experience.
  • Experience in public accounting and industry required.
  • Previous Banking or Financial Services is strongly desired.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of computer operating systems. Strong Excel skills required.
  • Strong organizational time management skills, problem solving skills, and the ability to grasp concepts and processes.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment with the ability to interact well, and in a positive manner, with co-workers and management.
