Teacher Assistant

We are seeking Teacher assistants to join our Performing Arts after-school and summer program team!

Job Location: Mott Haven, NY

Responsibilities:

• Support lead teachers in the implementation of lesson plans and classroom activities.
• Assist in the supervision and management of students during class, transitions, and outdoor activities.
• Provide individualized attention and support to students who require extra assistance.
• Help maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning.
• Assist with the preparation and organization of instructional materials and classroom resources.
• Collaborate with lead teachers and other staff members to assess student progress and address any concerns.
• Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student performance and behavior.
• Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure the well-being of students and staff.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate's or bachelor's degree in Education or related field preferred.
• At least one year of experience working as a Teacher's Assistant or in a similar role.
• Knowledge of child development principles and best practices in early childhood education.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in working with children.
• Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and handle challenging situations with professionalism.
• CPR and First Aid certification (preferred but not required).
