Interior Construction Project Designer

The Project Designer for our Interior Construction division has the opportunity to be a part of something innovative and revolutionary. A DIRTT Project Designer is part engineer, part computer tech wizard and part visionary all rolled into one. They will take our client’s needs and ideas and guide them from concept to factory order, using their strong design background and pushing 21st century tools to the limit in the name of building better client solutions.

This role requires exceptional attention to detail and dedication to accuracy. The right candidate is able to work individually, yet also be part of an energetic team. The Designer must be able to handle and successfully juggle multiple priorities with sometimes pressing deadlines. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are vital to success in this role.

Key Responsibilities include:

• Engaging with sales to understand the scope of the project; this may require occasional client meetings.
• Learn and master ICE® software to produce renderings, files, scope plan, quote packages and shop drawings
• Review all production information and drawings for accuracy
• Organize and submit orders in conjunction with the Project Manager and Project Coordinator

Preferred Qualifications:

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in interior design, architecture or construction science
• Experience with AutoCAD or other 3D software a plus
• Experience in all phases of interior construction planning would be beneficial
• Have an understanding of interior construction including architectural elements, lighting, electrical, HVAC and basic base-building knowledge
• Previous experience working in an architecture and/or interiors firm helpful
• Ability to read construction documents is helpful
• Previous knowledge of DIRTT’s solutions including its layers and how they work together, as well as an understanding of how DIRTT is installed would be an asset.
• Work with a high sense of urgency
• Be a self-motivator, a natural problem solver
• Have an aptitude for technology and a willingness to learn
• Possess outstanding interpersonal skills that allow you to work closely with all stakeholders, in order to manage expectations and ensure the client’s experience is positive
• Strong organizational skills and a mind like a steel trap to remember the details of each project and scope of work
• Ability to work alone AND with the team
• Ability to work in a transparent environment and be accountable
• Possess a strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Must be able to communicate effectively; not afraid to ask questions or gather missing information
• Ability to effectively handle multiple responsibilities smoothly

The work environment is usually quiet; reasonable interactions with other team members and office peers will occur daily.
