Job Description:

Blue Water Thinking is seeking an experienced and dedicated Technical Writer/Editor to join our team, supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). This role requires practical experience and theoretical knowledge in technical writing and editing. The successful candidate will perform a variety of tasks and understand the overall purpose of their assignments, contributing to customer engagements within specified guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Produce clear and concise documentation that meets applicable standards and is appropriate for its intended audience.
  • Edit, standardize, or revise material prepared by other writers or personnel.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure subject accuracy.
  • Understand and implement project guidelines and objectives within assigned tasks.
  • Utilize a variety of word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, and scheduling tools.

The position operates on a hybrid work schedule, requiring on-site presence for five days each pay cycle, primarily in the DC metropolitan area, at various identified VA location.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in technical writing or editing.
  • Proven ability to produce and edit documents under tight deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree or certification in Technical Communication, English, Journalism, or related field.
  • Experience working in a federal agency or healthcare-related environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and other publishing tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Eligibility:
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the required federal public trust clearance for this role.

Compensation:

Salary for this position is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, location, the candidate's particular combination of knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract specific affordability and organizational requirements.

The proposed salary range for this position is $60,000 - $75,000.
