Greenskeeper (Seasonal)

Summary of Responsibilities

The Greenskeeper has a vital role in the overall functionality and maintenance of the club grounds. They are responsible for the maintenance of the golf courses, tees, bunkers, fairways, irrigation systems and general grounds. Operate and care for course maintenance equipment.

Tasks/Duties/Responsibilities:

• Clean, maintain and service equipment
• Cut grass with power equipment
• Use various hand tools such as backpack blowers, water hose, weed eaters, etc.
• Pick up trash on golf course, in maintenance building and on club grounds
• Communicate effectively with other employees in maintenance department
• Perform heavy manual labor
• Follow planned landscaping designs to determine where to lay sod, sow grass, or plant flowers or foliage
• Prune or trim trees, shrubs, or hedges and removes cuttings, and cuts grass, weeds, and bushes
• Safely operates equipment such as mowers and pluggers used for various course maintenance needs
• Maintains maintenance and fluid use logs (gas and oil) on equipment
• Cleans machinery after each use
• Inspects machinery after each use
• Reports machinery/equipment problems to supervisor
• Makes necessary minor adjustments to equipment
• Loads and unloads materials
• Collects and empties litter cans
• Cleans gutters, drains and culverts
• Waters plants
• Rakes leaves
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors

Required Knowledge/Experience:

• 2 years related golf course experience preferred
• Knowledge of and/or ability to learn about the care and proper use of tools and equipment
• Ability to quickly learn maintenance, care, and construction of Club grounds
• Must be able to converse in and understand English and Spanish

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

• Must be able to frequently lift approximately 50 pounds
• Must be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time
• Ability to work in varying weather conditions
• Ability to work indoors & outdoors, day and/or evenings
• Occasional long weekends and holiday hours
• Ability to perform frequent overtime work

Working Conditions:

• Must be able to work indoor and outdoor environments
• Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions
• Must be able to work day and/or night hours, occasional long hours, weekends and holidays

Safety Hazards:

• Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
