Job description

Grand Canyon University! One of Arizona's leading institutions of higher learning.Located in the Valley of Sun in the heart of Phoenix, Arizona, GCU is a institutionally accredited, private, nondenominational Christian University.

The GCU Golf Course in Phoenix endeavors to enhance the local community with upscale, yet affordable, recreation. The golf course provides a learning environment for GCU business students and serves as the home for GCU Golf student-athletes. Our mission is to position the former Maryvale Golf Course as a community and university asset.

Grand Canyon University Golf Course is seeking a greenskeeper. The Golf Course Greenkeeper is proficient at most basic course duties including but not limited to hand and machine raking of bunkers, mowing of greens, tees, fairways and roughs, operation of weed eaters, hedge trimmers, backpack blowers.

Primary Responsibilities /Accountabilities/ Essential Functions:

  • Walk mowing of greens.
  • Mow tees, fairways, and roughs with ride on equipment.
  • Hand and machine raking of bunkers.
  • Ensure that the equipment cooling system is working at all times, refills fuel daily, clean equipment after each use, and report any equipment problems or failures to the Equipment Manager immediately.
  • Provide basic preventative maintenance on equipment as directed by the Equipment Manager or supervisor and return the equipment to its designated location at the maintenance facility.
  • Perform other duties as directed by supervisor.

Equipment Used and Responsibility

  • Knowledge of safe, efficient mechanical operation of motorized equipment.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to follow oral and written directions.
  • Performs all duties to Grand Canyon University Golf Course Maintenance standards.

Supervisory Responsibilities

None.

Experience/ Education

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Experience with mechanical operation of motorized equipment.
  • Must successfully pass a background check.
