RiverTree Kids Director - Massillon


The RiverTree Massillon (RTM) Kid’s Director assumes a pivotal role in launching and steering an integrated ministry that collaborates closely with parents, volunteers, and the broader church community, aiming to empower a generation of kids who know they are made for more.

The RTM Kid’s Director reports to the RTM Campus Pastor.

+ Essential Job Functions

Work as a cohesive unit with the RTM team, shaping the future of our campus.

Implement a RiverTree Kids strategy that draws families into the church and launches children into a lifetime of faith in Jesus Christ.

Oversee all RTM kids’ ministry programming and curriculum for ages 0 - 6th grade.

Responsible for gathering high-capacity volunteers and equipping them for ministry in the church.

Lead, encourage, and develop volunteers through 1:1 and/or large group interactions.

Shepherd, build community and care for the spiritual health of volunteer teams.

Proactively reach out to parents and families. Provide support, care, and resources as needed.

Ensure adequate support for all Kids programs; be able to step into any area of Kids Ministry, including welcoming families, checking children in, facilitating large or small groups, coaching, or providing creative support with music, design, or tech.

Be responsible for the safety of all kids by ensuring adult and teen leaders are screened, participate in mandated training, and maintain healthy boundaries in accordance with RiverTree child safety policies.

Collaborate with the Kids Directors in the Central Network team (RT Jackson & RT Lake) to help design a cohesive approach to kids ministry across the Central Network.

Coordinate with volunteers to ensure all elements and supplies pertaining to weekend kids' programming are prepared and ready ahead of time.

Work with RTM campus staff to support events and services to reach western Stark County (including Easter, Christmas, and other events).

Additional duties and special projects as assigned by the RTM Campus Pastor.

+ Education and Experience

A Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university, or five years experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience managing people and projects is preferred.

+ Knowledge & Skills Required

Strong theological foundation

Knowledgeable about children’s ministry best practices

Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and effectively delegate

Strong written and spoken communication skills

Enthusiastic and high energy leadership style

High Emotional Intelligence with positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills

Team player and team builder with a focus on the vision of the whole church

Comfortable learning new technology, software, and applications

Ability to speak effectively before small and large groups

+ Work Schedule

The position may require some evening hours and a limited amount of travel to retreats, conferences, trainings, and other church-related events.

The position requires 4-6 hours of work Sunday mornings during regular weekends.

The position allows for the employee to work out of the office as needed, but requires presence at the campus as needed.

+ Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

Sitting or standing for long periods of time

Walking or moving about to accomplish tasks

Talking/Hearing to teach or communicate with those inside or outside of the church

Light work; may need to lift up to 20 pounds

Must be able to move around a rather large building. Sometimes needing to carry supplies or push carts.

Position requires a lot of bending, sitting on the floor, and carrying small children.

Must be able to work weekends.

To perform this job successfully, the employee must possess the abilities or aptitudes to perform each duty proficiently. Continued employment remains on an “at-will” basis.
