Summary of the Position: This position is responsible for leading the manufacturing and packaging operations team on a daily basis, to ensure all production and quality standards are met. Additionally, this position will also provide supervision on an as needed basis, in the absence of the Supervisor

Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Communicate daily with immediate supervisor, or designee and operators in area of immediate responsibilities and as necessary, in other areas within Manufacturing Operations Department.
  • Organize and prioritize the daily production activities to achieve daily goals with no errors or deficiencies.
  • Identify and report all discrepancies to ensure safe, pure and effective products.
  • Monitor performances of the employees, products and equipment, report findings and recommend solutions.
  • Follow instructions as written on the Batch Record, SOPs and all other documents related to the appropriate processes and ensure compliance of area of immediate responsibilities.
  • Check and calculate raw materials and packaging quantities as needed.
  • Perform daily inspections to ensure compliance.
  • Train employees and perform set-up and adjustments to all manufacturing and packaging equipment as needed to ensure assigned machines run at peak efficiency and operations are within the cGMP guidelines and SOPs.
  • Maintain safe and clean environment by following appropriate procedures. Ensure that operators clean rooms and equipment according to the SOP's.
  • Perform basic preventative maintenance duties and troubleshoot challenging situations. Recommend and implement solutions.
  • Motivate and encourage employees to perform their duties on daily bases and be proactive instead of reactive to specific situations. Lead by example!
  • Listen to the employees needs and clearly communicate expectations to the employees. Support them in their efforts and help as necessary.
  • Transport raw materials weighing a minimum of 50lbs
  • Ensure machines performs at peak efficiency
  • Update production records, inventory sheets, log books etc. as required.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area throughout the day and participate in clean-up periods at the end of the shift.
  • Ensure that all equipment is operated in a safe and proper manner.
  • Report to supervision violations of specific cGMP, SOP, Safety Guidelines and Regulations and Company Policies and Procedures.
  • Train new employees on the operation equipment, safety, SOPs and GMPs
  • Regular attendance is required.
  • Operators will be wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) but not limited to: hair nets, beard covers, face masks, respirators, uniforms, safety shoes, safety glasses etc

  • Perform other assigned duties as may be required in meeting company objectives.
  • Communicate effectively with other departments within the organization and function within a team environment.
  • Follow all verbal and written instructions by immediate supervisor or designee.
  • May be exposed to raw materials and or finished goods derived from but not limited to: bovine, milk, soy, shellfish, pork, chicken, tuna and other allergen source.


Minimum Requirements: Manufacturing Packaging Team Lead will have a working knowledge of cGMP (dietary supplement or pharmaceutical environment), should have experience, training, education or any combination of it related to cleaning equipment or and environment in dietary supplement, pharmaceutical or food industry. Ability to use basic cleaning devices and ability to learn advanced cleaning equipment. Good interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with all staff levels. Critical thinking skills to learn Nutramax procedures and predict whether proposed changes will be effective. Must be able to work independently and within team environment, according to specific, written and verbal instructions, presented by supervisor or designee.

Attention to detail and some process analytical skills necessary. The ability to stand on a regular basis and use hands and arms to lift and reach required. Must be able to lift/move packages and materials weighing a minimum of 50 lbs. Previous knowledge and understanding of production processes in a cGMP or Pharmaceutical environment desired.

Must have strong mathematical and mechanical skills. Must be able to handle multiple tasks. Requires ability to use fractions, decimals, and commercial arithmetic.

Education and Experience: This position requires a minimum of a high school diploma. Three years of experience in pharmaceutical, dietary supplement or food industry preferred but not required. Basic knowledge a cGMP regulations and experience in cGMP environment is preferred but not necessary. Must wear Personal Protective Equipment and follow all appropriate written and verbal instructions and procedures. Position requires lifting, moving, cleaning of equipment and parts of equipment. Attention to details, multitasking and organizational skills are required. This position requires basic computer skills.

This position requires a high school diploma or GED with strong mathematical and mechanical skills
