Senior Buyer - Industrial Machining

Location: Tecumseh, MI (40 minutes south of Ann Arbor, MI / 45 minutes north of Toledo, MI)
Pay Rate: $70-$80k

Position Summary :

Seeking buyer with five plus years experience that is motivated And strong in negotiations 4 machining products used across multiple industries, including food, dairy, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and manufacturing solutions. The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of the cost of materials, the right time to buy, and the value. This role offers excellent growth opportunities for multiple plants for everything from design to engineering to aftermarket servicing of machines and machining products.

Position Responsibilities :

Strategic Sourcing: Develop and execute strategic sourcing strategies for machining products, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
Supplier Management: Identify, evaluate, and onboard suppliers capable of meeting quality, cost, and delivery requirements. Maintain strong relationships with existing suppliers while continuously seeking opportunities for improvement and cost savings.
Negotiations: Lead negotiations with suppliers to secure favorable terms and pricing agreements. Negotiate contracts, terms of payment, and service level agreements while mitigating risks and ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
Cost Management: Drive cost reduction initiatives through value engineering, competitive bidding, and process optimization. Monitor market trends, analyze pricing data, and implement cost-effective solutions to maintain competitiveness.
Quality Assurance: Collaborate with quality assurance teams to ensure that purchased products meet specified quality standards and regulatory requirements. Address any quality issues or discrepancies in a timely manner.
Supply Chain Optimization: Optimize supply chain processes to improve efficiency, reduce lead times, and minimize inventory levels. Identify opportunities for consolidation, standardization, and localization to enhance agility and responsiveness.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams including engineering, operations, and finance to align procurement activities with business objectives. Provide input and support for product development, demand forecasting, and budget planning.
Risk Management: Assess and mitigate supply chain risks related to supplier dependencies, geopolitical factors, natural disasters, and other external influences. Develop contingency plans and alternative sourcing strategies to ensure continuity of supply.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements governing procurement activities, including ethical sourcing practices, environmental regulations, and trade compliance laws.
Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the procurement function, leveraging data analytics, performance metrics, and best practices. Identify opportunities for process automation, standardization, and streamlining.

Position Requirements :

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or related field. Advanced degree or professional certifications (e.g., CSCP, CPSM) preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in commodity-based (electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic) purchasing.
Experience with Aftermarket Sales
Knowledge of industry-specific regulations, quality standards, and best practices in food, dairy, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and manufacturing industries.
Proven track record of successful negotiations, cost reduction, and supplier relationship management.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data, perform cost analysis, and make data-driven decisions.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders and external partners.
Proficiency in procurement software

REFERRAL BONUS PROGRAM:
